S-Tier Principal Backend Engineer

About the role

We're looking for an exceptional Principal Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of highly scalable backend systems powering next-generation applications. You'll own architecture, solve complex engineering challenges, and mentor senior developers while building secure, high-performance distributed systems.

• Design and architect scalable backend platforms
• Build secure APIs and microservices
• Optimize databases and system performance
• Develop event-driven, distributed systems
• Lead technical architecture and code reviews
• Mentor engineering teams and drive best practices
• Collaborate with product, AI, frontend, and DevOps teams
• Improve platform reliability, observability, and scalability

What you'll bring

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience
• Expert in Go, Rust, Java, Kotlin, or C#
• Strong experience with distributed systems and microservices
• REST APIs, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis
• Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS
• Docker and Kubernetes
• AWS, Azure, or GCP
• CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
• Proven experience leading architecture for large-scale production systems

Nice to have

• AI infrastructure experience
• Vector databases
• Event sourcing and CQRS
• Multi-region cloud deployments
• FinTech, HealthTech, or SaaS experience
• Open-source contributions
• Previous Staff or Principal Engineer experience
